Date: 2016-09-16 12:28 pm (UTC)From:Elros was proud to tame this wild elf with a touch. It made his people a little safer in the chaos of uncertainty. He would not be giving the Silmaril back. It would be flung into the seas before he'd give it to Maedhros, same with Maglor's if he could coax it from his other father's hands.
"I am glad you did! He is a loyal friend." He reluctantly pulled away, standing only to pick up the tray of broth and a small bowl of fruit, then he was back and gently set it on Maedhros' lap. "He is probably enjoying all the pampering my stables can provide."

Date: 2016-09-16 12:35 pm (UTC)From:He was starving - something he had learned to ignore - but he knew better than to force food on himself. Shakily, he tried to use his hand to pick up the bowl of broth. The smallest motion made him wince, however, and he peered up at Elros, unsure.
"Mm he deserves it. I shouldn't have pushed him so hard." but his friend had survived the journey and that was a relief.

Date: 2016-09-16 12:41 pm (UTC)From:Elros shook himself and after taking a bite of fruit, picked the bowl of broth up and simply offered a spoon of it to Maedhros. No judgement or disgust. Only love and a hope that he could help.
"He pushed himself hard. Let him enjoy himself a bit, rest. As I mean to ensure you do before we set out."

Date: 2016-09-16 12:48 pm (UTC)From:Maedhros was pleased that both had chosen the path that suited their hearts and their interests. He also knew he would not outlive Elros. The day this child left Arda was the day he would leave too.
Thus far, he had avoided telling anyone his plan. Maglor would be heart-broken and he knew he needed to prepare a better existence for his brother.
The spoon was eyed with the same wonder he had given Elros, yet he did not pause long before taking in the broth, sip by sip.
"Am I keeping you from your duties? Your family?"

Date: 2016-09-16 12:59 pm (UTC)From:Maedhros wouldn't have to tell him. They were similar, enough so that sometimes they didn't need to say a word for the other to understand. But also, Elros wouldn't pass it on. Not yet. If ever.
Sip by sip the broth was fed to the elf, making Elros nearly glow with quiet pride. But he also made sure to nibble on the fruit that had been left for him.
"My duties are right here. Do not worry about my family, Gaelil will keep my little ones away, least until you have a bit more strength to handle them." If the Oropheriel let them near.

Date: 2016-09-16 01:07 pm (UTC)From:His eyes had not failed him...yet. One of his ears was nearly cut in half (a gift from Morgoth) and at times he found it less capable than his other and then, of course, there were his hands (or lack thereof in the case of the right). His body was failing under the strain he had put it under and he knew he needed to slow down.
The broth went down well. His stomach didn't writhe and try to be rid of it, at least.
"How many?" his voice was breathless with barely concealed joy. His Elros had children! And a wife! He shifted and murmured:
"I fear my hair is a lost cause. Will you cut it short for me? I think I can bathe before I see them."
No, no. The babies would not be kept from him.

Date: 2016-09-16 01:16 pm (UTC)From:He was grateful Maedhros had managed to somehow pull himself back enough to run. To run to him. To run back towards life, near enough to be shored up. When the bowls were empty, the king went to the table where he'd spotted a pitcher of water and two glasses, which he was quick to bring back and pour Maedhros a glass. Then held it gently to his lips in wordless command.
"Two," so far. His wife was pregnant again, in the early stages but even he could tell. "I will wash it for you. If I cannot rescue it, I will do as you ask. And I will help you, if you let me."
Oh good. He wanted his babies to meet their grandpa.

Date: 2016-09-16 01:24 pm (UTC)From:The water was sipped as he had the broth and he felt his body rejoice. Elros had given him a second wind for his mind, body and fëa. He would show his gratitude over the coming days.
"Two." he repeated, smiling for the first time in what felt like ages. His face was unused to the expression.
"Do they like stories?" oh very few on Arda could tell a story like a Fëanorian. Maedhros rose out of the bed with care and nodded.
"I warn you, I am not a handsome sight." and he felt guilty for exposing Elros to what his body had become, but he knew it was not safe for him to bathe alone.

Date: 2016-09-17 05:54 am (UTC)From:Elros smiled back, delight and joy and love shining that he got it from Maedhros. "They love stories." He helped his foster father up, wrapping an arm around his waist. "I was in war, too. I have seen ugly sights. You are not one of them."

Date: 2016-09-17 06:30 am (UTC)From:"Good. I will tell them -" he stopped short when he felt the arm, amazed at how strong his foster son had become, "You say that now." but he was touched that Elros did not equate him with such atrocities.
Though he likely should. Carefully, he walked to the bathing room with Elros's help, shakily stripping off his clothes. He was indeed not a pretty sight - scarred and far too thin.

Date: 2016-09-17 07:39 am (UTC)From:"You will tell them the best stories, as you did me and Elrond." He might not be as tall as the Feanorian, but he was tall enough, and strong enough, to help him to the next room where a gently steaming tub was waiting. "I will say it again."
He was gentle in helping Maedhros undress, and again in helping him into the water. He said nothing about the poor state of his foster father, though promised himself that he would see to getting Maedhros healthier. If only enough that a gentle breeze wouldn't blow him over.

Date: 2016-09-18 10:09 am (UTC)From:Or...his natural sons. Such a thought was blasphemous and Maedhros knew he had no right, but when he saw Elros smile or Elrond laugh, he loved them enough to take the blasphemy without one ounce of guilt.
"Only the best for -" his throat tightened around the words my grandchildren. No, he wouldn't corner Elros with that desire.
"Both you and your brother are so stubborn." he grumbled affectionately, sighing audibly when he was sitting in the tub. The water felt good and he scrubbed at his skin, wanting the grit off of him.
